Description
What’s in a name? In the case of P. Dunkel Wheatley there’s enough to ascertain what this beer is about. Dunkel is the German word meaning dark. The first part of Wheatley is Wheat. So this is a dark wheat beer or Dunkelweizen characterized by a thick off-white head atop a beer ranging in color from amber to dark reddish brown. The high percentage of wheat creates a mouthfeel that is creamy and leaves a pleasing lace as it cascades down the glass. Use one of the German yeasts to obtain spicy, fruity, phenolic characteristics or the American Wheat yeast for a cleaner flavor.
The P. Dunkel contains:
- Malt extract
- Milled specialty grain
- Hops
- Priming sugar
- Fining agents
- Lalbrew Munich German Wheat Yeast
Each Bacchus Batches kit is formulated to produce a specific style of beer. Since the quantity and alpha acid in hops vary sometimes significantly from one year to the next or from one bale to the next we adjust the varieties and amounts of hops in Bacchus Batches kit to provide consistent results.
