Simpsons Export Pale Chocolate is a moderately roasted specialty malt that occupies a warm, flavorful space between Brown Malt and Chocolate Malt. Simpsons Export Pale Chocolate is notably milder than the standard Chocolate Malt, but it still imparts a strong dark character. Whether you’re adjusting color with a small addition or building up a substantial malt backbone, Pale Chocolate is an excellent choice for Porters, Brown Ales, and Stouts.

As part of its launch, our Brown Malt spec was altered and narrowed, with Pale Chocolate wedged between Brown and Chocolate in terms of colour (200.0 - 250.0 Lovibond).

Understandably, Pale Chocolate is milder than our Chocolate Malt, but does still impart some of the stronger flavours of darker, roasted malts. Small amounts of Pale Chocolate will be a good colour adjuster, while larger quantities will add strong flavours in addition to the colour, making it an excellent choice for Porters, Brown Ales and Stouts.
